Best Gifts for Travelers

The holidays are in full swing! If you haven’t already picked out the perfect gift for the avid traveler in your life, we have some ideas for you…

Collapsible water bottle

Before venturing through airport security, all passengers are required to empty water bottles. Save space with a collapsible water bottle, that can easily be tucked in your carry-on bag at this point. An equally great gift for an eco-traveler, with most airports implantation of water bottle filling stations. Outdoor stores such as REI or Sierra Trading Post will offer a plethora of brands and price ranges for collapsible water bottles.

Quality Carry-On Bag

This fantastic gift is a need for all travelers. Most airlines will allow a carry-on suitcase that fits in the overhead compartments. Each airline has different size restrictions (and fees associated with a carry-on) so be sure to check if they fly a specific airline, however a safe bet is around 18” X 14” X 8” or less. We’d also highly recommend a hard case suitcase that is on 4 wheels. Wheels are important, because you’ll be running through airports and maneuvering though small plane aisles. Also, on full flights, airlines may let you upgrade your carry-on bag to the checked compartment, at no fee, so having the hard case is an extra bonus during these unexpected upgrades.

Selfie stick

From solo travelers, to honeymooners, and destination groups, a selfie stick can be a useful (and affordable) gift for all ages! You can get this practicle tool for under $20, at most department stores or order online from Amazon. A photo is worth a thousand words – help the avid traveler in your life make memories.

Personalized luggage tags

Luggage tags are necessary for airport travel, especially during the busy holiday season! Keep track of your luggage and mores easily spot it on the luggage carrousel with personalized luggage tags. At CARE Travel, we often purchase customized luggage tags for our clients, and love to use Etsy! We use The Wedding Party Store on Etsy, who creates fantastic engraved tags that are customized to each traveler.

Scratch wall map

Do you have a world traveler in your family or friend group? Consider a scratch wall map, so they can showcase their adventures. We have one of these in our office, in fact! We love peeling off a new location after we visit it. Our globe is very colorful at this point.

Pair of flats/Comfortable shoes

Travel Designer Sally always travels with a simple pair of all black flats. Easy to dress up or down depending on the need and takes up minimal space in your suitcase! These shoes can transform into your airport running shoes, to easy shoes to slip off as you stroll the beach.

Travel Neck Pillow

It’s no shock that sleeping on an airplane isn’t the most comfortable or relaxing experience. Unless you are flying first-class, the airline likely will not pass out pillows to travelers abord. Add a little comfort (at a low cost) by gifting a travel neck pillow. Not only are these helpful in-flight, they’ll continue to provide comfort as you wait in the airport during long layovers. These fantastic little pillows can be found for under $20 and up, at common shopping centers like Target and Walmart, quick-shipping sites like Amazon, or specialty stores like Bed Bath and Beyond.

Airport VIP Lounge

Many airports now offer a VIP Lounges to wait in during long layovers or as you wait the 3-hours before you board your flight. They often offer snacks, a bar, Wifi, and cozier sitting areas like couches and more privately arranged spaces.

These airport lounge arrangements can be made in advance. Our agency’s number one rated airport lounge is Club MoBay in Montego Bay Airport (Jamaica). Spoil the traveler on your list this year with this added perk!
