Beach Reads

If you’re like me, you have to pack a book to read when you go on vacation. Something captivating, easy to get into, but also hard to put down. We’ve come up with our favorite beach reads just in time for July. Grab a glass of wine and settle in!

Beach Read by Emily Henry

We’ll start with the obvious. January Andrews once believed in romance so much that she wrote books about it. That was before her boyfriend dumped her, her father died suddenly and everything she thought she knew about happiness turned out to be an illusion. Now she’s left with nothing but an old house on the lake and a rapidly approaching deadline to deliver her next book, she packs up her entire life and heads to the wilds of Michigan. She mistakenly thought she was buying herself time to come to terms with who her father truly was. The very last thing she needs is to discover that she’s now living right next door to her infuriatingly handsome college nemesis.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

Poppy and Alex are like peanut butter and jelly: They’re nothing alike, but they’re somehow the best of friends. Until two years ago, when it all blew up. Poppy decides the only thing that will yank her out of a funk is one more trip with Alex. He agrees and now she’s got a week to fix their friendship. Can she do it? Well… you’ll just have to read it.

The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews

“In trouble and on the run… with a trunkful of emotional baggage… the no vacancy sign is flashing & the sharks are circling. Could this fish out of water be in too deep?” Mary Kay Andrews is the QUEEN of beach reads and she absolutely did it again. Plot twists, characters you want to get to know, and a little romance! One of the most perfect beach reads!

The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent

Elizabeth “Birdy” Finch always felt a bit adrift. She floated from one dead-end job to another never finding something that set her soul on fire. Unlike her lifelong best friend, Heather. She’s following her heart to Italy to chase a guy who could be ‘the one.’ Birdy currently has no fixed abode or a job and she has no idea what to do, and moving home is her last resort. When she attends a wine awards event, in place of Heather she soon finds herself down a rabbit hole of lies.

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

In Five Years is a love story, just not the one you think. After years of hard work and planning, Type A Dannie Cohan finally has it all: she’s aced a job interview at her dream law firm and her boyfriend just proposed to her. She goes to sleep that night and has an extremely vivid dream set five years in the future involving a strange man she appears to be married to.

When she wakes up, she can’t shake the dream and is further disturbed when she meets her best friend’s new boyfriend, only to discover he’s the mystery man from the dream. Dannie spends the next five years in a bit of a race against the clock, trying to get away from this dream scenario she fears is her destiny. While this may sound like the setup for a romantic comedy, it’s anything but. What readers will find is a thoughtful, poignant and yes, sometimes heartbreaking look at destiny, friendship, and our purpose on this planet. This is a book you’ll want to read in one sitting. Then you’ll want to immediately share it with a friend!
